why we’re called dotta
You might be wondering where the name DOTTA came from. And no, it’s not my surname. It came to me in a dream!
While I was at flower school, I kept finding ladybirds hiding out in my flowers, but strangely, no one else’s. I’d recently lost my mum, and the course leader, who was spiritual, suggested they might be a little sign from her.
After a few days of ladybirds, dots, spots and my mum on my mind, I went to bed and in my dream, saw the word ‘DOTTA’ and woke up knowing this word was going to be my brand name.
A nice little coincidence too: I learnt that dóttir in Icelandic means daughter. DOTTA became the name of my floral studio and a small nod to my mum.
I’ve since discovered that dotta is actually an Italian word that means learned/erudite! If it means anything rude in any other languages, please don’t break my heart!
